In Alabama, what you see quite clear,
Is Vulcan on Red Mountain holding a spear.
Also when you travel to Montgomery
You will see Camellia flowers and Southern Pine trees.
The Camellia is all pink and bright
Soaking up all the rain and charming sunlight.
The pointy leaves of the Southern Pine tree
Are green all year long, as you can see.
The yellow and black Yellow Hammer is our state bird.
It makes the most beautiful call that you ever heard.
The marble, our state rock, glimmers throughout the day
And makes people from other states want to come and pay.
A pecan in a tree, a blackberry on a vine,
Pecans and blackberries in pies tastes really divine.
In Gulf Shores our sand is sugar-white
When you see this sand, your mind will not reflect from any other sight.
The bald eagle nests at a lake in Guntersville;
The first rocket to put man into space was built in Huntsville.
Here in Alabama, we love the things that make us unique;
Come and visit “Sweet Home Alabama” and have yourself a peek. By: Haylee & Molly
Many of you are familiar with Birmingham’s past. The Civil Rights movement lasted from 1955-1965 in Birmingham, AL. Birmingham was nicknamed ''Bombingham'', because there were eighteen unsolved bombings in Birmingham at the time. One of the bombings in Birmingham was the Sixteenth Street Baptist Church, which killed four little girls. There was a group of people called Freedom Riders who would ride a bus across the south to silently protest discrimination.
Present day Birmingham is pretty busy most of the time.Birmingham is the biggest city in the state of Alabama.We have many things to do there like visiting the Civil Rights Institute to remember the past, the McWane Science Center to explore science, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham which leads much more.We are now known as the Diver-city because in spite of our troubles past, we are leading the way to the future through technology, medical research, and industry.
